I recently started reading an adventure novel. Everything about the the first page hooked me in because the protagonist has a clear problem and I knew the dangers of what he must do to solve it. The story is amazing. Then, I had a thought–“how does a writer get into creating something so wonderful?”
I’m not an expert on this topic. I didn’t read any books to answer the above question, but I do have a theory. After thinking in the shower this morning my theory is this: rhythm!
Not everything we create has rhythm, but I believe there’s a secret rhythm to the creating process that even the creator isn’t aware of. When Stephen King was asked where his ideas come from, he said, “I don’t know.” Like modern music, the words of a good book will have a sort of rhythm to it. Although it may not be a steady rhythm like the beat of a song it’s still there and flowing, like classical music perhaps.
This internal rhythm in a creation gives insight into the rhythm of the creator’s mind when he or she was creating. We’ll never know what it was like inside for J.K. Rowling to write Harry Potter or J.R. Tolkien when he wrote Lord of the Rings but just like how a businessman gets into a momentum and is afraid to stop I bet it’s the same for these fiction writers. In other words, they entered a rhythm, a mental beat or mode of production, that makes the creation process easier if not possible in the first place.
Imagine trying to write a book but you could only write one word every 5 minutes. That would suck! This fact helps to prove how important getting into a rhythm is when creating something. Even a painter or a car designer gets into a rhythm at work, whether it’s with brushstrokes or lines of the pencil.
So next time you want to be creative but feel stuck, try getting into a rhythm and see how that helps. Creating is so fun!
It’s good to be back writing again after a long time away. There wasn’t much to write about in the last while, but here’s something I’m honored to share, my recent tour of business in Calgary through the eyes of a passionate team of appliance repair technicians. I learned so much over the weekend, and now I want to share it so that I’m not the only one who gets to benefit from this amazing experience. I’ll be presenting a list of the three major things I learned at the end, but to begin I’ll tell you how this all happened in the first place and my general experience touring through the beautiful Canadian city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Here we go!
How did I meet these appliance repair technicians in the first place? You’ll never believe this, but one of my best friends from school is dating one of the most skilled and experienced technicians in Calgary. I won’t say either of their names, but to get the answer to the above question out of the way I will say that when I asked my friend who would be a good guide for me to explore Calgary she offered to let her boyfriend be my guide. It was an honor to meet him, and I’ll talk of him more in a bit. Now, I just want to tell you my first impression of Calgary and what developed after that moment.
When I got out of the airport, my first thought was actually quite negative. I was wondering why my friend had called Calgary such a beautiful city when all I saw was the same old infrastructure that every city has. There was nothing special, until my guide came to pick me up….
After a while of being disappointed, the personality of my guide alone cheered me up, and I had to remind myself of some things before I could really enjoy my first day there.
First of all, I had to remind myself not to be so serious, a topic I’ve touched on briefly in the past. I was there to have a good time and explore, but I was being too judgmental. The kind and free personality of my guide who picked me up from the airport kicked my serious judgment out the window and soon enough I was seeing Calgary for what it truly is, one of the best cities in North America let alone just Canada. My heart began to sank when he took me to East Calgary, a place of young passion and art of the likes I’ve never seen before. My first day there was long, but thanks to my guide, the appliance repair technician, it went by so fast. I’ll never forget it though. The memories flooding into my mind as I write this make me wish I was still there.
I was only in Calgary for two days and three nights, but I felt like I know the city well enough to call it my friend. I’ll definitely be back next year to visit the new human friends I made there, but the urban landscape itself is a friend I never knew I would wish for. After I got to see the city, touring the most famous streets, my guide gave me a tour of Appliance Repair Calgary Pros itself. They’re a company of hard working, experienced technicians who offer their services to your door. I’ve never seen anything like how their company operates, being Henry Chung. You know me! I’m all about business so when I got the chance to see how one operates from the inside I asked so many questions.
Here are the major points I learned after asking my guide way too many questions about what it was like to work in an appliance repair company in Calgary:
In order to be a reliable technician, enough to call yourself a “pro” at repairing appliances, you need to be familiar with all brands, makes, and models, which for my guide meant being able to fix an LG fridge and a Panasonic dryer in the same day without resorting to manuals all day.
There are way, way, way too many appliance repair parts floating around the market to possibly remember them all–I mean thousands!–which is why my guide relies on several different resources to keep track of them all and know which parts are needed for which appliance, although his memory serves him great in this regard nonetheless.
Living and working in Calgary, no matter what kind of job you got, so long as you’re passionate about the work you do, is probably one of the best places in the world to live and work, especially if you get to drive from job to job fixing home appliances like my guide does. I’m so jealous!
Those were my major points of insight I learned about my new friend’s line of work, and they’ll be impacting all my future thoughts about the industry for the rest of my life. I’m so glad and grateful I got to get a tour from such an experienced man.
So thanks again to my wonderful guides:

You guys are awesome. Can’t wait for my next visit.
One of the coolest parts about life that most people don’t figure out, is that anyone can become the master of knowledge, and totally dominate life. Physical strength can most certainly get you places, but having knowledge and wits sculpts a different path of potential. In 2016 we have so many resources it’s ridiculous.
Everybody is so worried about money, and that there’s not enough. What do you mean there isn’t enough money?!?!? They’ll just print more if it runs out.
When I stated that sentence to my mother, she said to me: Who’s they? Haha.
I know it’s not that simple.. But what I’m trying to say is that we’re going to be fine. Everyone out there is freaking out about politics; burning cities down and causing mayhem. When really they aren’t looking at themselves enough, and realizing they’re doing more damage than any single politician has ever done.
We Need To Focus On Ourselves
I know this is going to go against a lot of peoples beliefs, but I just want to say that no matter who the president is, they aren’t going to affect your life in a significant way. You can still do the same things, and go out there and build the life you want. A lot of people with the same mentality as me own fancy cars, and are wealthy. I prefer to stay just well off and spend my time doing what I love; which is working on a farm. (Did I mention I moved back onto a farm?)
I don’t mean to offend anyone, I just want to open your eyes to the fact that you don’t have to stress about what’s going on in the world, there’s really just no point. Absolutely create your own opinions and beliefs about what you please, but don’t let it drag you down. Work with what you have and build the life of your dreams with it, because it’s always more than possible no matter what kind of economy your in.
I do want to clear up the fact that I’m speaking solely about politics. My dream is to share the wealth I build overtime with the less fortunate with what I’m capable of, and if I don’t use the potential I have then I cannot provide that. Make sense?
We live in a society where we are fully clothed, housed, and have a structure. Yes we have to put up with capitalism, and the government getting fat on the hog while most of us just scrape by, but there are opportunities to feed off of that wealth. We can take a slice of the pie with applying the right wits and knowledge, that’s why I try to write about things like “wake up early.”
Just thought I’d rant a little, hope my ideas & views are helpful and not annoying, have a good one guys.
Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve written to you guys. I’ve been off in Victoria BC helping a good friend of mine run his business. Not just with the business side of things but with the actual labor. The movers at We Haul Cheap really needed help, as they were down 2 guys. I like to be there for my friends, so there I was for 2 weeks moving houses. I was pretty sore the first couple days, but I’m feeling much better now. Tonight I’ve spent my night having a very much needed good time with good friends; and guess what? I felt somewhat bad about it. I felt like I’ve made no progress towards my business. Is that bad? Should I feel like that?
Well, absolutely not. I work hard, I have money, I don’t need to be working towards anything really.
Entrepreneurs Are Never Satisfied
The title says it, and it’s something we need to learn how to overcome. Maybe it’s just me really… I can’t go out and do anything that’s not productive towards my business without feeling bad, and like I’m losing hours. But you know what? it’s healthy to give yourself a break from time to time. If you spend every waking hour of your life working on your business it will become you, and often the whole reason you started this thing (could be many different reasons,) evolves into something else. Personally I became an entrepreneur so that I could work my own hours, have the freedom to do what I want when I want, and to get what I put into my company.
Come on.. Who doesn’t enjoy having a few drinks with their friends on a Tuesday night? I put long, hard hours into my business for occasions like that. It feels like all your hard work was well worth it when you get to do these kinds of things.
Hey! I need to express something that has been on my mind lately. I use to have a friend group that would just sit in a circle and complain. They complain about their spouse, their children, politics, the paper route boys weird hat, anything they can think of to whine about the world and everything they disapprove of. This negative energy steered me towards new friends, that were very loving, compassionate and positive people. This was great, but for some reason I still just couldn’t find myself fitting in with them. I always felt unsatisfied with the majority of my friends, (sorry if that sounds negative). They are all still my friends today, but honestly they fit better into the category of acquaintances. I would do anything for those I love, but I don’t spend time with them, barely ever.
Why I Don’t See 90% Of The People I Love Often
My Blog is all about views, insights and thoughts. I’m not really here to give people facts, mainly just to share insight I believe in and if it coincides with you then I would be ecstatic to know my writing is enjoyed. Whether I’m talking about music, life, anything; If you don’t like what you read you don’t have to take it personally as I’m not trying to state any broad facts, it’s just there for those that can relate. Don’t feel like I’m trying to say I’m right, it’s just my opinions.
Just because you love someone doesn’t mean your headed down the same path. You’re drawn to people because of their energy, not their hobbies. Your personality is mainly made up of 3 different things:
Now you’re drawn to someone because of their personality. If you’re friends/lovers with another individual you likely match each other in at least one of those aspects, maybe not so much genetics if you’re lovers… Hopefully not at least. In my opinion: You will become either a deep friend or lover if you share similar brain algorithms, and the same or acquaintances if you share similar hobbies/interests.
The Beautiful Truth
You get to be yourself for your entire life, and spend time with those who make you happy. Find the people your naturally drawn to and embrace it. You will synchronize naturally and thrive on happiness. If you enjoy playing music and come across someone with the same hobby, you have the potential to create a new piece of art. If you come across someone with similar brain algorithms AND hobbies, you have potential to create something bigger; like a band.
Too many people are focused on the wrong things, they don’t think about themselves enough. I’m not promoting being selfish as it’s actually one of my biggest pet peeves, but you have to think for yourself to a degree. Think about what you want, what you like and what’s going to make you happy. Don’t live to make others happy, as it’s not your job to do so.
I Have A Little More To Say
I love being awake at ridiculous hours. I woke up at 3 am today, completely out of choice. If your brain algorithms happen to coincide with mine you will love the middle of the night when nobody has awoken. My favorite part about it is that you have a head start and time to get your personal work done. You’re also underestimated because people don’t see you working, and long-term you being underestimated will also surprise people in a positive way once your work pays off.
That’s it! Another random rant for my amazing readers this morning.
Happy Thanksgiving to all you Canadians out there!
If you read my page: Who Am I? You are aware that I am from Canada. My visit to my hometown this week really opened my eyes to how much I really miss my family and friends. So many things change in such a short period of time. I payed a visit to my grandmother; who sold her house. I saw my best friend/business partner; who has taken the business I use to own to a new level, and started offering services like Custom Woodworking and Deck Building. I also visited my ex-boyfriend (eeek) and he’s doing really well for himself, which is kind of the opposite of where he was when we were together. It’s just amazing to see all these developments that occur while your not paying attention. Continue reading “The Best Jam”
Life has been absolutely crazy lately. I’m dealing with countless things and it’s awesome. I do feel overwhelmed at times but I feel ecstatic at the same time, it’s a weird contradicting yet very satisfying feeling.
As you may know I didn’t go into to much depth on my page I named: Who am I. I plan to add a lot more to it so you have an understanding as to why I’m here, ranting about myself and talking about things I like to random people is something I have grown passionate about. For those who may stumble across my blog, please do share! In a nutshell I didn’t make this to ‘wow’ anyone. It was simply to express my life to the public and if people coincide with it; it’s always nice to relate to people.
There is a wide variety of opinions and feelings out there about music. This may just be me, but I see a lot of “strong hatred” for these genre’s especially:
2000’s and up pop music
I actually just don’t understand. It doesn’t sound good to you? You don’t like Chad Kruger’s hair? Or They’re too “wanna be”? Honestly I really don’t understand why there is a desire to impact the music you don’t like negatively. I think it’s completely okay if it’s not your thing, but don’t go around trashing a band you dislike just cause your style is different. All that does is seep negative energy into the universe, nothing else. Maybe I just don’t comprehend it because I’m very open to any genre of music and never really view it in a bad way, even if I don’t mesh well with the song or band.
